Nurse Says Man Tried to Suffocate Uncle in Moses Lake Care Center

An employee at a elder-care facility was watching a 68-year-old resident carefully after doctors said he could die at any moment. During one of the check-ins she says the man's nephew was trying to suffocate him.

The woman claims the nephew was standing next to the bed and pushing on the old man's nose and mouth with his hand.

Later police could not find medical evidence of suffocation and the suspect said he was merely adjusting the pillow.

However, under interrogation the man did admit to being drunk and distraught over not being able to afford his portion of the man's care.

Staff at the facility and police both told the man people do crazy things when grieving in an effort to make him confess, but when pressed he asked for an attorney.
