It seems the two were seen going through lots of mail not belonging to them. According to  Pasco Police:

The female suspect is on camera getting out of the suspect vehicle and rifling through lots of mail. It was reported to Pasco PD on 112021. Officer Jeremy Jones investigated. Two days later, sharp-eyed Officer Jones found what appeared to be the same car parked at the Sage and Sun Motel by the Cable Bridge.

The black and white images are from the Greentree RV Park in November.

Pasco officers knocked on the door at the motel and backup arrived.  Porter and Rutherford came out and quickly ran away. Police didn't have probable cause to arrest them.

It was determined, upon further investigation, that the car was a stolen Nissan Versa stolen out of Kennewick.

Long story short, search warrants allowed officers  to recover bags of stolen mail from the hotel room and from the stolen car. The mail was taken between October and the present, stolen from the Tri-Cities, Benton City, and Burbank. Some mailboxes had been unlocked, but others had been pried open. The US Postal Service is assisting with attempts to return mail to addressees.
Porter and Rutherford remain at large.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of these two, Pasco Police would love to hear from you. Call 509-628-0333.
