Pasco Police to Pet Owners “Don’t Leave Them in Hot Vehicles!” [VIDEO]
This one hits close to home and yet, I am still baffled by it. Pasco Police were called out to an incident over the weekend where a defenseless pup was left unattended in a parked vehicle. As a pet owner, I will never understand why for the life of me, do people leave their pets in locked, hot vehicles?
Case in point, I have to share the following Pasco Police Department Facebook post:
I'm very happy that the puppy is ok. The new puppy owners received "some" training about "responsible dog ownership".
I can't even handle leaving my comfortable air-conditioned home or vehicle for a few minutes in this heat.
Please, pet owners, be responsible for your pet's safety.
If it's too hot for you, it's way too hot for your pet. Leaving the window open and water for your pet is not enough. Do NOT bring your pet with you to run errands. Leave your pet at home.
What to do, if you see a pet in a hot car, from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals)
Note the car's color, make, and model, and write down the license plate number or take a picture of it.
If there's time, go into the nearest building and find a manager.
Monitor the dog
Go back outside and wait by the car.
Always good to have some facts on hand for if and when the pet owners come back.
