Police Investigating Online Threats Targeting Sunnyside Schools

Police are busy investigating as three school districts were recently targeted in anonymous online threats.

The Sunnyside School District and Sunnyside Police are investigating after threats were made on various social media circuits. The threats were focused on the district's secondary schools.

According to a statement from the Sunnyside School District:

These posts are similar to others that have been seen in the Yakima Valley recently. The Sunnyside Police Department are currently investigating but advise that school stay in session.

The Sunnyside School District has added additional security including police officers. They are patrolling the middle schools and high school, as well as other schools in the district.

We take all threats seriously and will investigate to the fullest extend possible. We will update with more information as it comes available.

This comes after yesterday, where similar situations unfolded two other school districts were targeted in online threats. The Grandview School District was shut down due to a threat circulating on Snapchat. You can read the story from our news partners at KNDU, HERE.

The Grandview School District and Grandview Police Department are continuing their investigation. School was open as normal on Friday, however, with an increase in security.

An anonymous threat was made against Granger High School on Thursday night.

Schools opened as usual Friday morning with increased security. Several police officers were placed at every school in the Granger School District.
