Today, the Seattle Seahawks made a massive statement, locking up Jaxon Smith-Njigba with a record-setting four-year, $168.6 million extension. Then, quietly, made another move at the same position.

JSN now becomes the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history. Honestly, good luck finding a Seahawks fan who does not think he deserves it.

Seattle Seahawks Finalize Huge Deal with Star Wide Receiver Smith-Njigba

Coming off a dominant 2025 season where he led the league with 1,793 receiving yards, Smith-Njigba didn’t just produce; he carried the offense. He was the engine behind a Super Bowl run and looked like the kind of player you build an entire era around.

For a few hours, that was the only story about the Seattle Seahawks locking in a cornerstone player. Then the Seahawks made another decision at receiver, but this time for around $5 million.

Then Came the Quiet, but Important, Move

Not long after the headlines about JSN cooled off, the Seahawks made another move that might not grab national attention, but matters just as much.

Seattle matched an offer from the Jacksonville Jaguars to bring back Jake Bobo on a two-year, $5.5 million deal. They had a few more days to announce the move, but did not wait.

Bobo’s story is part of what makes this roster click. Undrafted in 2023, he worked his way into a role by doing all the little things right, blocking, tough catches, and showing up when it mattered most.

He did not put up massive numbers, with 323 yards and three touchdowns over three seasons, but that does not tell the full story.

Seahawks Make Smart Move for Bobo

That 17-yard touchdown in the NFC Championship? Huge. Remember, he had a huge 3rd down conversion before that. Playing in Super Bowl LX just weeks after hand surgery?

Teammates trust him. Fans love him. He is also a great blocker and has better-than-average hands and body position.

With big names already in the receiver room like Cooper Kupp and Rashid Shaheed, bringing back a reliable, low-cost option like Bobo is exactly what contenders do. This isn’t just about depth.

After a 14-3 season and a dominant postseason run, Seattle is clearly focused on maximizing its window right now.

Managing to keep not only most of their stars, but also the “glue” players that keep it all together.
