Franklin County Deputies and the Sheriff's Department have thanked Columbia Basin Dive Rescue (CBDR) for their determined efforts over the last couple of days concerning a tragic drowning at Chance Lake west of Connell.

Earlier last week, Deputies were called to the small body of water a few miles west of Connell, for a report of a small boat that was seen submerged in the water.

Upon arrival, CBDR was called and examined the scene. The boat's owner, whose name has still not been released, was found with the boat under the water. The 80-year-old man was said to be from Grandview. According to the investigation, a 35-year-old man was supposed to be with him, but he could not be located.

Then going into the weekend, FCSO updated information and said the second man had also been located in the water, but no official cause of death released yet. Presumably, he drowned.

FCSO says no further information about the case will be released at this time.

The Sheriff's Department also released this video as part of their thank you to CBDR for their efforts in the incident.
