Some Victims Recovered From Float Plane Wreckage
(Oak Harbor, WA) -- Some victims of a float plane crash off Whidbey Island earlier this month have been recovered as work continues to bring the plane up from the bottom of Mutiny Bay. The National Transportation Safety Board says 80-percent of the plane has been recovered. Ten people were on the plane and the body of one person was recovered soon after the crash happened. Witnesses say the plane spiraled into the water. Strong current has made it difficult for a remotely operated vehicle to maintain control while collecting pieces of wreckage. One wing and other parts of the plane remain to be recovered. The remains of victims were turned over to the Island County Coroner for identification.
