Suicidal Armed Dangerous Man CAPTURED–UPDATE
---UPDATE Dylan Jonathan CHRISTENSEN was located this evening at an address on Progress Rd in Hermiston by Umatilla County Deputies. After an investigation, he was taken into custody and lodged at the Umatilla County Jail on multiple charges including Menacing, Disorderly Conduct II, Pointing a Firearm at Another, and Attempted Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Umatilla County Sheriff's officials say this man is considered armed and dangerous especially considering his perceived mental state.
Around 6:45pm Sunday evening, Deputies reported to an area at 32293 Progress Road Hermiston, on a report of a man shooting off what appeared to be an AR-15 rifle. The area is largely rural where he was spotted.
He was said to be suicidal. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Dylan Jonathan Christensen, allegedly pointed the rifle at one person, and then fired it into the ground. Based upon the information they were given and what just transpired, Sheriff's Deputies set up a perimeter with help from Umatilla and Stanfield Police and Fish and Wildlife officers as well as using the Umatilla County Sheriff's Drone team.
However, Christensen was not located. Officials say he is 6' 2" 185 lbs and was last seen wearing a black tank top, plaid shorts, long hair with bandanna, and carrying the black AR-15. From the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office:
"UCSO cautions the public that CHRISTENSEN is considered suicidal and armed. UCSO is seeking to make contact with CHRISTENSEN to question him regarding the above incident and to check on his welfare. Please DO NOT RESPOND on FACEBOOK. If his location is known, do not approach, instead call our 24 hour dispatch center at 541-966-3651. As always, in an emergency call 911"
Officials did not offer any other details or backround about Christensen. The search for him continues.
