On lap 2, as the Pay n' Pak and Squire Shop were thundering down the Kennewick side of the course, the Squire veered over and crashed into the Pak, damaging both boats so they could not continue.
UH-1 and other sources report earlier in the day Thursday, an elderly photographer, not affiliated with the Official Race Team or Water Follies, had a medical incident and died in the pits.
The event brings over 65,000 spectators to watch the hydroplanes and airplanes in the air but this year it's not going to happen due to the lingering effects of the pandemic.
