Watch Prophets of Rage Fan Help Out Injured Tom Morello Onstage
But after admitting he was struggling somewhat, fan Mike Svensson was invited from the audience to cover the Rage Against the Machine classic “Bulls on Parade.”
“Last Thursday, I fractured my hand and broke it in two," Morello told the crowd in Stockholm. "And my doctor said, 'There's no way you guys are going to be able to go on tour.' I said, 'There are some crazy-ass motherfuckers in Sweden who need to see this shit.'"
You can watch the video below.
After admitting his arm was “getting a little tired right now,” he asked the audience to welcome Svensson onstage. Morello played a limited role in the performance, leaving the guest to lead the guitar parts. When it was over, he said, “That’s fucking incredible. Sweden has talent, people!”
Svensson later thanked the band for the experience in an Instagram post. “Everyone from the band to the crew were super nice and supportive,” he added later.
Morello recently recalled how he’d been inspired to form Prophets of Rage after seeing the headline “Donald Trump Rages Against the Machine” in 2016. After having written a "snarky tweet" in response, he decided that wasn't enough and invited his former Rage Against the Machine colleagues plus members of Cypress Hill and Public Enemy to become more proactive.
The band complete its current European tour in Spain on July 14. A North American run starts on July 22 and ends on Sept. 2. You can see the full list of dates on their website.
