Legendary crooner, Burl Ives, who starred as Sam the Snowman in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, moved to Anacortes in the 80s. He is most famous for singing several classic Christmas songs that are still played on the radio and in homes today, including Have a Holly, Jolly, Christmas, Silver Bells, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, and Silver and Gold. You can visit the Anacortes Museum during the holidays and see the mural cut-outs of several characters from the Rudolph TV special.

If you want to get out of dodge, head to Snohomish County to ooh and ahh over the Edmonds, WA, beaches. It's a two-and-a-half-hour drive to Edmonds. Just head over the pass to Seattle, keep on rolling through Bellevue, and once you reach the city of Shoreline, you're less than fifteen (15) minutes away from Edmonds beaches.
