A person who bought a passenger sedan at an auction here in the Tri-Cities got the surprise of their life Thursday -- and so did sheriffs deputies.

The purchaser called authorities out to Benton City and upon arrival found several bags of what appeared to be drugs hidden in the vehicle.

Indeed, they found at least 8 sandwich baggies containing significant amounts of meth. Deputies didn't say where the person found them, but did say so far there's no connection between the buyer and the drugs.

Unfortunately, they did lose the car; it's been impounded. Deputies are investigating the previous owner, and backtracking to trace the history of the vehicle. One would think that a vehicle sold at an auction would be inspected at least somewhat?

Somewhere, somebody is doing a serious 'pucker' at the thought of the trail leading back to them!
