Officials now say the suspect who threatened to shoot doctors and workers at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland Monday night is an employee of the hospital.

51-year-old Matthew Ganz entered the campus just before 7pm Monday night, armed, and threatened to kill numerous people. A quartet of Richland officers arrived within 90 seconds and began to search, followed shortly by Benton County Sheriff's and Kennewick police.

Ganz was seen on closed circuit TV making his way through various areas, but fled in his truck before he could be apprehended. Kennewick police found him and arrested him about 40 minutes later in Kennewick.

Reports now say Ganz works at the Hospital but did not specify what department. During the incident, he also indicated he was feeling suicidal. His vehicle has been impounded for investigation, allegedly a Glock pistol was found inside. No other information has been released.

Police have not said what his possible motivation was, or if he had shown any previous signs of serious mental health issues.
