Who Else Hates How Great Movies Come to Tri-Cities Late?
One of the downsides of living in Tri-Cities is trying to see a great film in a movie theater. So many of the films tabbed to be Academy Award nominees just don't get booked here while three or four screens are dedicated to Despicable Me 3 in 3-D.
Are we really that backward? We care enough about cheap-thrill sequels to give them them multiple screens when award-winning movies are showing in other cities?
Recent examples:
- 12 Years a Slave -- didn't come to Tri-Cities until it was nominated for an Oscar.
- Dallas Buyer's Club -- only here for a week, then they brought it back after it got nominations.
- Amour (French film)
- The Artist -- didn't come until after it won the award
- Nebraska -- only here for two weeks
