No deputies were injured, but a 33-year-old man is in stable condition at Kennewick General Hospital.

Benton County Sheriffs report around 6am they were pursuing a suspect who was wanted in connection with allegedly trying to break into his estranged wife's home on East Bowles road.   Around 4am, officers responded, and Shane DeWeber allegedly threatened them with a sword. He reportedly asked officers to shoot him before speeding away in his truck.

A short time later, DeWeber was seen near Haney and Bowles road driving with his lights off.  He then drove his truck into a pair of patrol cars parked alongside the road. A KPD officer and Sheriffs deputy were deploying spike strips.  The officers barely got out of the way in time, but DeWeber's truck was destroyed!

After crawling out of the wreck, he charged the deputies and was tasered, but because he is 6'5" and 260 lbs, the taser did not stop him.  After a struggle, he was apprehended and arrested by the officers.   Due to injuries suffered in the incident, he was taken to Kennewick General Hospital, and is in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.   He is facing numerous felony counts and a burglary charge.

The investigation continues.  Photos Courtesy of our News Partner KNDU-TV.
