Washington I-90 speeders got stung this morning by the Washington State Patrol Air Support, one caught at 100 mph.
WSP Conducts Aircraft Emphasis in Ellensburg, Targeting Speeding Drivers
Today, the Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers in Ellensburg used aircraft to monitor and stop nearly 20 speeding vehicles. The Troopers took advantage of the beautiful and clear weather, in just under two hours targeted drivers speeding. Troopers from District 6 posted about the air patrol today on X.
WSP troopers using their aircraft surveillance were able to observe and track vehicles traveling at dangerous speeds, some reaching up to 100 MPH. Several other drivers were clocked traveling in the mid-90s MPH range. That stretch of I-90 has a posted speed limit of 70 mph in most places.
Speeding remains a top concern for Troopers and this should be a good reminder to slow down. The aircraft emphasis allowed troopers to quickly identify and pull over vehicles in real time, increasing both the efficiency of their enforcement efforts and reducing their response time. This technique is particularly effective in rural and open areas like I-90 around Ellensburg, where long stretches of road encourage dangerous speeding.
Obey speed limits, not only to reduce traffic incidents and fatalities, but to keep from having your name on the next big speeding ticket they write.
