2018 Kennewick Homicide Suspect Arrested in King County
The case had gone somewhat cold for some time, but now an arrest following new information over the last year. Photo is of area where shooting occurred.
Suspect in 2018 Kennewick fatal shooting arrested
Kennewick Police released information Wednesday afternoon (April 6) indicating a suspect has been identified and arrested.
18-year-old Hunter Black was found fatally shot in his home at 401 South Yelm Street, despite life-saving efforts he died at the scene. According to KPD Wednesday, the case had been determined to be a home-invasion.
At the time of his death, he was a father-to-be to a son born later.
At that time, two unknown males wearing dark clothing and facial coverings were seen leaving the location.
Fast-forward nearly four years
Now a suspect has been identified and due to new evidence and probable cause, 23-year-old Lawrence Isaiah Groce has been charged with 1st Degree Murder. He is currently in the King County jail on an unrelated charge.
He will be extradited to Benton County where he will be formally booked on the charges. More information is expected to be released soon.
