It took a few days, but an auto theft suspect is in the Benton County jail.

Suspect hit victim with skateboard threatened them with hammer

Last Thursday afternoon, June 9th.,  Kennewick Police reported a victim had their car stolen by a 40-year-old male suspect near the intersection of E. 13th. Ave and South Washington. The victim said the male hit them with a skateboard, then threatened them with a hammer.

KPD said this was not an isolated incident, the two apparently know each other. While the car was not initially located, Monday the vehicle was spotted with the suspect driving it near 10th and Washington. Officers swarmed the area, and a "high-risk" traffic stop was performed near 10th and Gum Streets.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was captured without incident and is now facing Auto theft and Assault charges. Likely going to lose his skateboard and that hammer as well.

Speaking of strange events...
