73 Inmates at Yakima County Jail Have COVID-19
The battle against COVID-19 continues at the Yakima County Department of Corrections. Officials say there are now 73 cases of coronavirus among the 402 inmates now being held in the facility. Everyone including staff have been tested for the virus with 113 negative results. 27 inmates have recovered and others are being monitored. The virus was first discovered in May when an inmate tested positive for COVID-19. Jail officials say they're currently waiting on results of 222 tests at the jail. 6 staff members who tested positive for the virus last month are expected to return to work within the next week. Everyone at the jail including staff are now wearing masks.
