It looks like being submerged in the Motley Crue universe has had quite an effect on Machine Gun Kelly. The rapper and actor revealed Wednesday (Dec. 4) that he's releasing a rock album in the new year.

But that's not all; the artist also promised that a new song from himself would emerge by year's end. MGK — whose real name is Colson Baker — has dabbled in guitar and collaborated with rock-based artists in the past. But perhaps portraying Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee in Netflix's The Dirt has pushed the artist to some type of rock 'n' roll tipping point. See the rapper's appraisal of the situation down toward the bottom of this post.

"Rock album in 2020," Machine Gun Kelly succinctly tweeted this week to his over 1 million followers. The brief message soon was joined by the additional announcement that there'll be a "new song before the year's over."

Come to think of it, maybe tattooing his head and receiving the gift of a dildo from Marilyn Manson also moved MGK toward the rock sphere. The rapper's even performed with Manson and Limp Bizkit at one of the latter's Los Angeles gigs. And he once rocked out on top of a tour bus.

Machine Gun Kelly also had his hands on the musical side of The Dirt. He collaborated with Motley Crue on the group's "The Dirt (Est. 1981)," the film's title track that appeared on the associated soundtrack.
