The Pasco City Council has officially scrubbed Pasco's Grand Old Fourth fireworks show, which takes place at GESA Stadium.

Due to fear of large crowds gathering, the council --after lengthy debate--voted to scrub the fireworks. The vote was split, 4-3.

It is possible the parade could still happen according to information from KEPR TV. However the parade would have to be modified to fit whatever social restrictions are in place at the beginning of July.

One possible replacement, said the council, would be holding a fireworks show on Veteran's Day, Nov. 11.   The council did agree the nation's birthday needs to be celebrated on July 4, which was the main reason those who voted to scrub it did so.

No word on the fate of the River of Fire Festival on the Kennewick side of the river at this time.
