COVID cases are rising again and it's causing several closures that will affect the Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo.

The Fair kicks off tomorrow for five days but two mainstays at the fair won't be available.

The rising COVID cases in the Columbia Basin are a concern for both Ben Franklin Transit and the Pasco/Kennewick Rotary Club.

Ben Franklin Transit announced on Friday that their usual shuttle rides to the Fair have been canceled for 2021 and now a popular food booth is canceling their booth.

The Pasco/Kennewick Rotary Club who runs the popular Elephant Ear booth won't be at this year's Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo.

Organizers for the organization say that rising COVID cases is a concern. Another concern is the booth that is usually run by volunteers is having a problem staffing the popular booth.

This will be the second year that the Rotary has been unable to have the Elephant Ear booth which normally raises over $50,000 for local programs here in the Tri-Cities.

The Club is still seeking donations and they are now focusing their efforts on the Mid-Columbia Duck race that'll be held on September 25th.

Another organization, Pet Overpopulation Prevention canceled their fundraising concert on Clover Island over the weekend over COVID-19 concerns.
