Richland Fred Meyer will Re-Open February 20 Following Fatal Shooting
Portland OR-based Fred Meyers Stores says the Richland Wellsian Way location will reopen Sunday, February 20th.
Special workers-only event will take place prior to doors re-opening
It will have been just under 2 weeks since Aaron C. Kelly, 39, walked into the store and fatally shot Justin Krumbah, who was an Instacart worker, then also shot and severely wounded Mark A. Hill before leaving the store shortly afterward.
He was captured later driving on I-90 after a massive manhunt in Eastern WA. His bail is at $1 million as he resides in the Benton County jail. The hunt involved several dozen law enforcement agencies.
Fred Meyer plans to help community efforts
According to corporate officials, Fred Meyer plans to donate to the SARC or Support, Advocacy and Resource Center in Richland--to help those affected by the shooting. They also plan to donate to the Second Harvest Food bank as well.
Following the workers-only ceremony, the Sunday hours February 20th will be 9AM to 7 PM. The chain says grocery pickup services will resume Monday the 21st, and hours will be 7 AM to 9 PM.
