Seahawks Back on Sunday Night Football Due to Raiders COVID-19
Three of the Seattle Seahawks first six games this 2020 NFL season will be contested on NBC's Sunday Night Football.
The latest appearance, coming Sunday night in Arizona against the Cardinals, kickoff at 5:20 p.m. is due to the Las Vegas Raiders and their serious coronavirus issues forcing the NFL's hand to make sure there is a Sunday night game at all, so they're moving Seattle into the coveted Sunday night slot again. The Raiders could potentially be without all five of their starting linemen in their contest with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Raiders have just five remaining offensive linemen on their 53-man active roster, along with two practice-squad offensive linemen.
NFL rules stipulate that teams must have at least eight offensive linemen on their 48-man rosters for game day. If the Raiders are unable to dress at least eight offensive linemen for Sunday's game, they would be allowed only a maximum of 47 active players. The NFL still expects the battle of the pirates to be contested (Buccaneers/Raiders) Sunday afternoon.
Another Sunday night national TV appearance is good news for Seahawks fans and football fans in general as two of the best games in the league this year have been with Seattle on SNF. The last second stop of Cam Newton to beat New England on the final play of the game in Week 2 and then a thrilling 4th down conversion to D.K. Metcalf for a winning touchdown with :15 seconds left to play against the Minnesota Vikings that sent the Seahawks into the bye week undefeated, 5-0, for the first time in franchise history.
Let's hope for the same thrills and same outcome. It will be Arizona QB Kyler Murray and the Seattle Seahawks' QB Russell Wilson matching wits. It should be a dandy.
