The South Park Studios is unique in that the team behind the scenes can pump out a new episode in just a matter of days. It used to take weeks to complete just one episode, but advancement in animation technology has drastically cut production time.

Being able to work under the gun, the team can find themselves finishing episodes just moments before they have to be ready for air. This keeps the new episodes up-to-date and topical, but it also can put them behind the 8-ball in certain situations. This week was one of those situations as the power went out at South Park Studios and team wasn't able to complete the latest episode:

On Tuesday night, South Park Studios lost power. From animation to rendering to editing and sound, all of our computers were down for hours and we were unable to finish episode 1704 "Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers" in time for air tonight. Trey Parker said, "It sucks to miss an air date but after all these years of tempting fate by delivering the show last minute, I guess it was bound to happen. "GOTH KIDS 3: DAWN OF THE POSERS will air next Wednesday, October 23rd. Tonight there will be encore, Live-Tweeted presentation of Scott Tenorman Must Die at 10p EST.

Basically, a bummer as there will be no new episode this week, but the Scott Tenorman episode is an absolute classic. Especially if you're a Radiohead fan.

The South Park creators managed to fire up a night vision camera during the power outage and snapped a few photos from their darkened studios Tuesday night, which you can see above.
