Power Outage Leaves Over 6K in the Dark in Kennewick Wednesday
As of around 10 AM, power was restored to most locations in Kennewick.
SEVEN KENNEWICK SCHOOLS INCLUDING ADMIN KNOCKED OUT
As of 10 AM power had been restored at all but Highlands Middle School. Kamiakin HS, Hawthorne, Sunset View, Vista and Westgate Elementaries, Keewaydin and the main Admin building were all out for about an hour starting around 9:05 AM.
An estimated 6K customers were without power, including some near Clearwater and Columbia Center Boulevard as well as the Yakima Federal Savings and Loan at Steptoe and Gage.
According to Kennewick School District Officials, the issue was reported to them from Benton PUD as being a "structural issue" at one of their substations. We have reached out to Benton PUD to determine exactly what the issue was, are awaiting an official response.
