Tragic End to Missing Kennewick Woman Case–Found in River Dead
According to updated reports, the body of a 50-year-old missing Kennewick woman has been found.
Woman found floating in water near Columbia Point Marina
Sandra Peterson, who was reported missing early Thursday morning by her family, had recently experienced a traumatic mental crisis. She'd left her home sometime during the overnight hours Wednesday night into Thursday.
She'd left behind her cellphone, money, all over forms of payment (cards) and other personal effects. A car she'd left in was found abandoned Thursday in Richland.
Family was using a drone to search for her
Reports indicate, by way of the Benton County Sheriff's Department, that her family had been using a drone to search for her. Her body was found floating in the water near Columbia Point Marina in Richland. The BCSO did not specify why they were searching that area, but they confirmed it was indeed Peterson. She was found sometime Friday afternoon or evening.
The BCSO confirmed the news Friday evening. Columbia Basin Dive Rescue and other authorities are handling the case now, relatives have also been notified. No other details have been released, including her specific cause of death. However, at this time foul play is not believed to be a factor.
