Western WA Man Arrested for Supporting ISIS, Illegal Weapons Possession

Federal officials say the 33-year-old man is a Washington state Army deserter, who's been working on a commercial fishing boat out of Westport for three years.

Daniel Seth Franey is a convicted felon who has a history of domestic violence, say officials. He was investigated after several people who knew him said he began making dangerous and scary statements about how he supported the terrorist group ISIS.  According to NW Cable News:

" The investigation started after a few people went to police saying Franey talked about his support for ISIL and his desire to kill Americans.

In one meeting with a federal agent he described ISIS as "the best people on earth," adding that anyone who is against the Islamic State group will "end up like the people you see on the videos with their head on the ground."

Court documents say he told a federal agent that "Osama Bin Laden is a diamond. He's a holy warrior. He's a beautiful man."

Documents also say Franey told an undercover officer that if there was a unit from the Marines or Army getting ready to ship out, they should be hit."

He is facing six charges of illegally possessing firearms, including a machine gun. Felons, including those with domestic violence convictions, are not allowed to have weapons, which is where the majority of the charges stem from. But his numerous statements, corroborated by witnesses, are also disturbing.
