Woman Kicks Officer in Chest During Altercation

A 21-year-old woman is in the Benton County jail after she turned a simple trespassing charge into felonious assault.

Around 6:30AM Monday, police say Lucia Barela was located after a report of a disturbance in the 3200 block of West 4th. Ave, possibly the Brentwood Apartments-although that has not been officially confirmed.

Officers told her to leave several times after negotiating with her for nearly 20 minutes, but she refused. When police tried to arrest her, she became combative and kicked two of them, one in the chest, the other in the leg.

She's now facing a variety of assault charges besides trespassing. A minor injury was sustained by one officer, Barela was not hurt. The picture shoes a shoe print on one of the officer's shirts.
