Where Everybody Knows Your Name: 4 Yakima Bars Where the Service Is Extra Friendly
Where Everybody Knows Your Name: 4 Yakima bars where the service is extra friendly
Sometimes bartenders and servers act like they don't know how to be friendly and get to know you as a person, even though you go in there all the time! I mean, I know sometimes it's rough going to work, but if you see the same customers frequently, I feel like it's the least you can do to get to know someone if they are genuinely trying to establish a connection with you.
For example, there have been two ladies that work at Walgreens near my house. I have been going there for years, right, and one day, an employee named Cheyenne asked me how my day was going and the next thing we know, we are chit-chatting about everything from our kids to you name it. Another employee named Charity warmed up to me because I would walk into the store and yell, "CODE 21!"** and it made her laugh. We got to be friendly with each other every time I went there, and one day I noticed she seemed down. She told me about the recent loss of her grandmother. You don't just open up like that to any old customer, she trusted me with her personal life. That, my friends, is called making a connection with your customers! Charity has moved on to a job someplace else and every now and then, I feel a little sad because she's gone. The new employees just aren't as FRIENDLY to me, and they definitely don't know my name!
I wanted to give a shout-out to these four local bars who have made quite an impression on me. They exude a happy vibe that I hope other customers will enjoy for years to come in the small town of Yakima. It's always a great thing to discover a pub or local watering hole that you can go to and talk some sh** with the staff and they treat you like a bud. They each carry that special kind of magic that reminds me of the camaraderie and rapport they had on that hit TV show from the 80s and 90s, Cheers.
Brews & Cues
No, you won't get a pool stick broken over your head like I used to think would happen to me when I first moved here and heard that Brews & Cues was a rowdy bar. You might see bikers and rabble-rousers hanging out there, but they are so friendly (at least they are to me) and the staff is just as friendly and fun, too!
Bill's Place
The bartender I met here was so friendly to me and my friend when we recently hung out there on the patio. He didn't ask my name, but he did give me a wink and a smile. That'll work for me, ha! The food is so good there, too, and the drinks are delightful.
The Pub
Scrumptious food and a fun atmosphere await everybody at The Pub. Depending on the time of day, findiing a good parking spot might be a challenge, but it's worth it. Glenwood Square has a cozy feel to it and all you have to do is just head down the stairs to The Pub and you'll find a friendly staff who will make you feel so welcome to be there. Kid-friendly, too!
McGuire's Irish Pub
This place is THE spot if you want to get away from the world and relax with a good beer and some grub. It will be SLAMMED on St. Patrick's Day, as has been the custom for decades, but either way, you're probably going to walk out of there with somebody ordering shots on the house even if you just met them!
