gun found on felon on Clover Island (KPD)

Kennewick Police apprehended a 27-year-old man while investigating a suspected DUI crash on Clove Island Wednesday night.

During the course of the investigation, which police believe involved at least one impaired driver, they located  Alejandro Cervantes, who was reportedly in one of the damaged vehicles.

An officer watching closely saw signs of behavior from Cervantes that led him to believe he might be armed. After a pat down, Police found a 9MM pistol in his pocket.

Cervantes is a convicted felon, and thereby not legally allowed to posssess any such weapons. He did not resist arrest, and was taken to the Benton County Jail on the weapons possession charge.

No other details released yet about the DUI related crash, the investigation continues.
