No specifics about what occurred, but Benton County Sheriff's Department officials called it an "interaction."  Image shows neighborhood where the incident occurred.

Elderly man found dead at home on South Gum Street.

Friday, April 22nd, around 5 PM Deputies were called to a home in the 1100 block of South Gum Street,  just west of Eastgate Elementary and the Benton County Fairgrounds for a report about an assault in progress.

Officers, including the K-9 unit, set up search and containment, but no suspects were found.

The victim, identified as 70-year-old Zale Underwood was found dead, although an autopsy is being performed, it appears he was stabbed to death.

Deputies and investigators believe the "interaction" he had with the suspect(s) resulted in his death.

The BCSO says there will be continued law enforcement presence in the area as the investigation continues, which will likely include searching for any video evidence of what happened at Underwood's home. This would mean making security video requests from people in the area who have cameras.
