As we get closer to school opening this fall, several school districts are still deciding the structure and protocol but the Richland School District has announced their fall plan.

Richland School District will start the fall school season with online classes. The school board voted 4-1 to have online schooling to start the school year after the Benton Franklin Health District released their recommendations for school reopening.

Pasco Schools which are in a similar situation have extended their decision until August 11th after meeting on Tuesday night.

Richland School is still looking at some in-school learning with alternating days in small groups but for now, the plan is for Richland Schools to start online learning fully until other options can be worked out.

Kennewick School District will meet on Wednesday, July 29th to discuss what options they'll be looking at for returning students.

The Richland School District posted on their Facebook page details about their Richland Virtual School:

Richland Virtual School, our new fully online teacher-directed program for students in kindergarten through Grade 12, now has its own website at virtualschool.rsd.edu.

Check it out to learn about Dr. Jesse Buchholz, our new Director of Online Learning, and more details about the program.

There will also be an informational webinar at 6:30 p.m. on July 29 with a presentation from Dr. Buchholz and an opportunity to answer questions: https://rsd400.zoom.us/j/98168508800
