Smokey Harsh Air Conditions Getting Worse in the NW AGAIN!
We had one good day. Saturday it seemed like maybe the days of horrible air quality were finally breaking up. Well, unfortunately that one day was the only break we get and it's the think smokey haze is back with a vengeance. The National Weather Service issued another alert for really MOST of the Northwest, including Benton and Franklin counties (among other local counties). According to the alert, the air quality alert is in effect until at least Tuesday:
"Unhealthy air will be common at times across central, south central and southeastern Washington due to the large wildfires currently burning around the region. Children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory illnesses are most at risk of serious health effects. If you experience respiratory distress, you should speak with your physician. Smoke from ongoing fires in northern Washington and British Columbia will continue to move across the area."
So, you know the drill: stay inside as much as you can, keep outdoor activities to a minimum, and keep an eye on kids, the elderly, and those with respiratory illnesses. Even when inside try to keep activities down to lessen the possibility of harm that can be caused by this poor air.
