Reports are flying around the web this morning claiming Tool guitarist Adam Jones confirmed to fans at a VIP Pre Show in Portland that a new album was completed and would be released before the end of this year. Today, Jones claims he was a tad misquoted and was only joking.

Crave Online was the first to bring up the news, but a Facebook post from Jones is letting us in on the true story.

The rumors of a new Tool album have been running rampant for nearly half a decade. Frontman Maynard James Keenan has even opened up slightly about the process of recording a new record, but nothing has ever been confirmed. Until this news coming out of Portland.

Jones claims that he did say the album was completed and that it would be coming out before the end of the year, but says he followed up that statement with 'just kidding'.

Good one, Adam.

Tool is contracted to make another album, but if there is one thing we should all know about this group of musicians it's this: They will do whatever they please, whenever they please, however they please.

SOUNDOFF: Is this a way of back peddling and realizing he shouldn't have said what he did or do you think Tool is still working on a new album and it isn't completed yet? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
