Damian Lillard Hits Buzzer Beater to Win Series for Portland
You can’t make this stuff up. As a fan, this is unreal.
Going into this series with the Houston Rockets, the Portland Trail Blazers were underdogs.
Throughout their first three wins in the series, Portland was out-played all the way until the fourth quarter. Somehow, in each of their wins, they managed to squeak by.
Damian Lillard etches his name in Blazers legend as the kid with the guts who gave the team its first playoff series win since 1999-2000.
Down by one point with nine-tenths of a second left and looking at a game seven in Houston, Damian Lillard threw ripped the Rockets’ hearts out with this prayer. Portland took a 4-2 series clinch with a 99-98 win at the Moda Center. Portland will take on the winner of the Spurs-Mavericks series.
That ball came down, I’m not sure I have.
If it looks familiar, history does repeat itself. Down by one in 2008, Brandon Roy (also in his second year at the time) takes a pass in from the line and fires it off from the same spot, falling similarly, with 0.8 seconds to beat Houston by one.
