Papa Roach Drop Off Uproar Tour as Jacoby Shaddix Prepares to Undergo Vocal Surgery
Papa Roach have dropped off the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival after only a week into the trek. The reason for their exit is the fact that singer Jacoby Shaddix has to have vocal surgery.
Shaddix was diagnosed with a nodule on his left vocal cord, but tried to power through the Uproar trek. However, his doctor has advised that the singer undergo corrective surgery to remove the nodule so as to prevent further damage and so he doesn’t exacerbate the problem. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Shaddix, who recently expressed his excitement about the tour and his confidence that his vocal problems would not impinge on his performance plans in an exclusive chat with Loudwire, issued the statement about bowing out of the tour this morning (Aug. 24). It read as follows:
It’s no secret that I’ve been having issues with my voice lately. I was hoping to be able to go out there and kill it on this tour by resting and doing vocal exercises, but my voice has just gone out on me. I hate to let our fans down, but unfortunately surgery is the only way to fix it. The last thing we want to do is give our fans less than 100% every night. We know they’ll understand and we’ll be back better than ever.
Uproar producer John Oakes expressed disappointment about P Roach’s exit, but understood that the singer’s vocal health is the top priority. His statement is as follows:
It was amazing having Papa Roach on the road with us for the first few UPROAR shows. We’re disappointed that they can’t continue for the rest of the tour, but Jacoby’s health is the priority and we wish him a speedy recovery.
Papa Roach will drop their new album ‘The Connection’ on Oct. 2.
