Heading to WSU This Fall? Better Get Vaccinated–New Requirement

Starting this fall WSU is requiring students who attend in-person classes, those who live on campus, or otherwise engage in regular activities on their grounds, to have proof of a COVID-19 vaccine.

WSU President Kirk Schulz made the announcement this week. There will be exemptions allowed for the following reasons:

• Medical
• Religious
• personal

However, a student has to go through certain procedures to apply for an exemption.

For students who attend online-only, or whose education does not require regular visits or participation on campus, they will not have to show proof.

WSU says for students who plan to live on campus, for example in Pullman, and have applied for and received an exemption to the vaccine requirement; the school will reserve the right to make housing modifications for that student that they believe will best protect public health and safety of others.

WSU officials say the exemption process information will be released soon. For those choosing to get a vaccine prior to enrolling, they will have to have proof of the shot no later than August 6th of this year.  The school says it will accept any vaccine that's offered in the U.S., for those requiring two doses, the student must show proof they've had both.
