At the last minute on Saturday night, a friend and I decided to go up to Seattle for the last game of the 4 game set with the Orioles.

It was so worth it. Seeing Chris Davis swing so hard at EVERY PITCH (he struck out a lot), Adam Jones being magical in center field, and that new face in town - Nelson Cruz. Oh, and Bill Russell was on the field for pre-game ceremonies.

It was all I could ask for. Ryan Flaherty waved at my pants, I saw Manny Machado's huge ears up close, cute girls in Orioles jerseys giving me high-fives (which I never solicited, but gladly obliged!), my first ball-park beer ($9, holy God), a great environment (love coming to SafeCo), and a great pitching match that came down to extra innings. Baltimore won in 10 innings, 3-2 off a Manny Machado sac-fly. Did I mention there were a TON of Orioles fans there? I got some "Let's go O's!" cheers going up from section 328.

I'm just glad there's meaningful baseball in SafeCo, especially when Baltimore comes to town. Both teams are vying for playoffs, it's a great thing. I always wish Seattle the best, but of course, this road-trip was pivotal for the Orioles, and I am thrilled we took 3 out of 4 in one of my favorite parks.

Oh, I did buy an Orioles home hat at SafeCo. Hear me out, I had to retire my last one (hangs in my office) because it was so well-used, and hats are cheaper at stadiums.
