Southridge Senior Booked into Jail for BB Gun in Car
Adan Barajas, 18, allegedly told classmates at Southridge High School in Kennewick he had a real .357 revolver in his car after school Monday.
Tuesday morning the classmates reported the incident to the high school resource officer.
Around 9 a.m. the school was placed on lockdown, Barajas was located and escorted to his car where it was discovered he had a realistic-looking BB gun.
He was booked into Benton County Jail for "possession of a weapon on school property."
It sounds to us like his real mistake was bragging about having a weapon to friends -- if that is, in fact, what he did. Otherwise, this sounds like something that should have been taken care of in the vice principal's office, not the county jail. After last Friday's shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School north of Seattle no one can be too cautious.
