Unlocking the Truth is the newest band to sign a two-album contract with Sony Music. They met at a birthday party and in pre-school... because they're only kids. Malcolm Brickhouse, Jared Dawkins and Alec Atkins are 13 years old. They were made famous by Youtube videos of them playing on Times Square for milk money. They've now performed at Coachella and SXSW. The band is now on the Vans Warped Tour.

The thing I like most about these guys is they're getting famous the old fashioned way -- by playing in front of every audience that will listen and hoping people like them.

There is no Simon Cowell working behind the scenes. These boys starting playing in their basement and took lessons to get better. When they were ready they took to the streets playing in Times Square.

It's interesting that their songs are often lacking vocals because Brickhouse is worried about his voice changing. They don't want pre- and post-puberty sound. They don't want people love them as the (little) boy band and then lose interest as they age. They also don't want to fight for credibility once they're teenagers.

They're definitely good. They can play. It reminds me of those football players whose moms work two jobs to pay for pads and football camp. Then when they go pro they buy their mom a house. Well, Unlocking the Truth, you're not famous yet, but you owe your moms a house.
