Thunderbird Motel wants to allow around a dozen customers to call the motel their home.

The owner currently has that many who stay there long-term and just change rooms to avoid the rules against living in a hotel longer than 30 days. The owner wants to become compliant with the law. The city doesn't think it's a good idea and has the hotel on its naughty list for the number of code violations (57 over 5 years) and calls for police service (1,405 over 5 years).

The owner says many of those are from/by/about homeless people who linger on the premises and tell police they're staying at the hotel.

Should the motel be allowed to have long-term residents?
